I’ve always liked people being clever with words, particularly when there’s a dual-meaning pun involved. Our name is meant to capture our goal of helping companies get unstuck and our collaborative approach. We seek to function as a catalyst, supporting you as you free up the energy wasted in those friction points – the barriers keeping you stuck – and use it to propel your company forward.
The coefficient of friction is a factor used in physics that shows the relationship between two objects and their resistance to movement. When the coefficient of friction is low, there’s less resistance to forward movement. Just like in physics, every stuck company has specific friction points – whether it’s unclear direction (Clarity), lack of team buy-in (Unity), or inadequate systems (Capacity). Keeping that mental image at the forefront helps me stay focused on diagnosing and reducing the specific friction keeping each company stuck.
My mental image of collaboration is the classic “everybody pulling on the same rope”, vs the counter to that, “everybody off in all directions”. True collaboration leverages capacity across the company and is the most efficient way to make a real impact on the business. This is the “Capacity” that comes from Clarity & Unity. When everyone has clarity they can be united behind that clearly communicated goal, which brings the organization the capacity to gain forward momentum and break through whatever barriers had them stuck in the first place.
